One of my favorite things to do is look for tree ents. Ents may mean different things to different people but to me they are trees with faces. How many faces do you see in this burl on a California redwood?

IMG_4577.JPG This was taken on the Ridge Trail at Ludington State Park last August. My 7 year old grandson initiated the stance because he said that "he could make a face to look just like this tree". Good try Mason!IMG_4577.JPG

Nine . . . but that was without much effort. What a wonderful burl!

I bet most people have seen carvings like these (part of a Scrabbling article in the What's Up News). Many of them are carved from burls like the ones helping to create these Ents.

I see a cherub with arms extended/feet touching in the large forward facing burl on the right. The one with the moss covered cap. Nature never ceases to amaze. Must be something to see up close and personal. Keep coming back to study the burl. Glad you shared this. :)

I've looked at the burls so many times and see a different number of faces and different faces every time. I'm finding my moods often dictate which faces I see. So sometimes just a simple ent like my all time favorite (so far) is soothing.
